Brief Services

Blue Hills is committed to respond to families in a timely manner without compromising quality of services.

The development and implementation of a Brief Service model was in direct response to increasing demand / expanding need for service and the desire to eliminate many barriers that traditionally prevent access, such as waiting. The average wait time for active service had been increasing to almost 9 months.  The Brief Service model allows for increased capacity and ability for families to access services in a more timely manner and when most in need.

Service begins with our screening/intake staff engaging in an assessment framework and referrals to internal services where appropriate. Most families that meet eligibility will be provided with Brief Service intervention which is up to 6 sessions. In addition we will be able to provide parenting and group supports either at the same time as the Brief services or immediately following.  It is predicted that this initial enhanced ‘front loading’ response to families will allow for many families to have their needs met and diverted from further services. The remaining families will be seamlessly provided with individualized ongoing therapeutic services.
